Chamber Launches Member Medical Insurance Plan

For Immediate Release
January 15, 2009

Today, the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce announced the launch of a new health plan exclusive to Chamber members - ChamberCare. ChamberCare, administered by WellPath and in partnership with Doctor’s Direct Health Care, gives small businesses, big business benefits along with affordable premiums and access to a strong, local health network comprised of local physicians and the Cape Fear Valley Health System.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Douglas Peters, President and CEO of the Fayetteville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce; Mike Nagowski, President, Cape Fear Valley Health System; Dr. Michael Bryant, President and CEO, Doctor's Direct Health Care; and Tracey Baker, CEO, WellPath.

“The Chamber has been actively exploring ways to address its members' concerns about the high cost of healthcare coverage and its increasing impact on area businesses,” said Peters. “We feel that ChamberCare is a solution to the rising cost of healthcare that is causing many business owners to struggle to find ways to keep their businesses thriving.”

Members who choose to utilize ChamberCare and its benefits may choose from a network of physicians and providers in the Cumberland County area. Members may choose from 30 plan designs that are all coordinated by local medical leadership in concert with the Cape Fear Valley Health System.

A key component of this plan is the Know Your Number® element; a disease risk assessment tool that employs patented “next generation” morbidity modeling for identifying the risk for onset of chronic disease and disease complications.  This type of program is typically only available to much larger companies and is expected to save small business thousands.  ChamberCare will truly provide member small businesses, big business benefits.

For more information regarding ChamberCare please contact Gary Cooper, Chief of Staff, at gcooper@fayettevillencchamber.org or by calling (910) 483-8133.
