The Military Affairs Council was formed
in 1956 and is an organization of business and professional Cumberland County
Business Council members who relate and socialize on a personal basis with our
military neighbors at Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base. Funded by Chamber members,
the MAC Council strives for a 300-member annual membership that funds all MAC
sponsored programs and events during the year.
The present day Military Affairs council proudly traces
its origin back to over fifty years ago when that period brought substantial
growth to Fort Bragg and pope Air Force Base. From its early origins the Chamber's
Military Affairs Council has continued its strong bonds with Fort Bragg and
Pope AFB and continues to build bridges of understanding and cooperation between
the military and civilian communities.

Council is an organization of business and professional Chamber members who relate
and socialize on a personal basis with our military neighbors at Fort Bragg
and Pope Air Force Base. Our mission is to "enhance relationships and
foster a heightened understanding between council members and members of the
military community." The present day Military Affairs Council proudly

Fayetteville has profited immeasurably as a result of
the countless military service personnel who have elected to retire in our community.
Many have entered second careers and are contributing to our business, governmental
and professional establishments. Our community has gained in the fields of medicine,
law, engineering, science, skilled labor, religion, the arts and more.
Council social events and programs are financed from the
special MAC fund. Activities vary from year to year and new programs and initiatives
are added constantly. MAC functions through an advisory committee consisting
of the current and immediate past chairs, the events chair, the membership chair,
the Garrison Commander at Fort Bragg and the council vice president. Advisory
meetings are held on an as-needed basis.
